3 benefits of an adequate fiber intake

Author: Fernanda Berganza

Nowadays, the importance of fiber consumption is highlighted. There are even dietary supplements on the market. The truth is that through food, you can obtain adequate consumption, but you must know the sources of fiber and how to combine them to obtain all its benefits.

What is fiber?

Fiber is the part of dietary plant material that is resistant to enzymatic digestion, which includes cellulose, non-cellulosic polysaccharides such as hemicellulose, pectic substances, gums, etc. Diets rich in fiber that include cereals, nuts, fruits, and vegetables have a positive effect on health since their consumption has been related to a decrease in the incidence of several diseases. Fiber increases the volume of fecal bulk, decreases the time of intestinal transit, and increases cholesterol and glycaemic levels, trapping substances that can be dangerous for the human organism and stimulating the proliferation of the intestinal flora.

Some benefits of proper consumption of fiber

  • When accompanied by an appropriate intake of water (general recommendation: 2 liters per day), it improves your digestion.
  • It gives you satiety by delaying gastric emptying.
  • Regulate your blood sugar levels.

Some of the Yogi Super Foods products rich in fiber are:

  • Granola
  • Our cocoa and superfood protein bars
  • Cacao nibs
