In this instance, the painting that accompanies the virtue of patience features a woman sitting on her haunches with her back to us, in a clearly reflective pose. In classical pictorial symbolism, when a character turns their back, it represents introspection, as they avoid looking at the spectators and focus on themselves. Patience in her difficult situation will allow her to see the matter she is facing more clearly, and she will regain new strength to continue with life.
